Hanham's 1930s semis and 1970s detached homes are textbook monocouche substrates — sound brickwork underneath, no movement issues. We apply Weber or K Rend through-colour at 14-16mm scraped finish, so the colour is in the render itself and never needs painting.

Monocouche is a through-colour mineral render — limestone aggregate, Portland cement, pigments, and additives — applied in a single 12-18mm coat and then scraped back to expose the aggregate for a textured finish. The colour goes all the way through, so unlike paint there's no top coat to maintain. Monocouche is harder-wearing than silicone (more impact-resistant, great for parking areas and alleyways), cheaper, and gives a contemporary scraped or dragged finish that's popular on modern Bristol homes. The 1930s semi-detached homes along Court Road, Tabernacle Road and the Avon Ring Road form the backbone of the area — typically 3-bed, 900-1,100 sq ft, with original sand-and-cement or pebbledash render that's now 60-80 years old and reaching end-of-life. The post-war detached homes on the Park Farm and Blue Mountain estates (built 1955-1975) are generally larger — 1,200-1,800 sq ft — and many have original 1970s pebbledash that's failing. The newer homes on the riverside developments and the Blue Mountain extension are 1990s-2000s executive detached, typically already rendered but with acrylic systems that are starting to fail.
