Plastering is the foundation of every interior finish. Whether you need a full house re-skim after rewiring, a single wall repaired after damp treatment, or a fresh plaster finish on an extension, we cover it.
Most of what we do in Bath sits on Georgian limestone rather than the brick and pebbledash that dominates Bristol. That changes the specification before it changes the price: a solid lime-built wall needs a system that lets it breathe, and the wrong choice traps moisture in the masonry.
We survey every Bath property before quoting and tell you plainly whether plastering is the right answer for your wall — including when it isn't.
Listed Building Consent and conservation area approval are handled before we start. Where consent is needed we will say so at the site visit, not after the scaffold is up.

Everything you need to know about our plastering service.
A 2-3mm skim coat typically takes 3-7 days to dry fully, depending on temperature, humidity and ventilation. We don't recommend painting for at least 7 days after plastering — painting too early can cause the paint to flake. We provide an aftercare guide with every project explaining drying times for your specific conditions.
Yes — airless spray plastering is one of our specialties. It's ideal for large projects (full house re-skims, new-builds, extensions) where the speed advantage really matters. A full 3-bed house can be plastered in 1-2 days with airless spray, compared with 4-6 days for hand trowel. The finish is slightly different (a fine stippled texture) but equally paint-ready.
Yes, in most cases. We can either scrape back the high points of the Artex and skim over the top, or bond and skim over the whole ceiling for a perfectly flat modern finish. We can also remove Artex back to the original surface if needed. Note that some older Artex (pre-1980s) may contain asbestos — we can test and refer a specialist if needed.
Yes — but only after the damp issue itself has been diagnosed and treated. We use Thistle Dri-Coat or similar renovating plasters that allow walls to dry out without re-forming salts. We can advise on whether you need a damp specialist first.
For most plastering jobs (single room, patching) yes, you can stay in the house. For full house re-skims we recommend finding alternative accommodation for 2-3 days while the plaster dries — there's no smell but the work area needs to be kept warm and ventilated.
Yes — extensions and loft conversions are regular work for us. We can board and skim, apply backing plaster for tiling, or do full decorative finishes. We work alongside your builder or architect and can quote at any stage of the build.
Bonding plaster is the base coat applied to bare brick or blockwork — typically 8-15mm thick. Skim plaster is the final 2-3mm coat applied over bonding (or over plasterboard) to give a smooth paint-ready finish. Most plastering jobs use both.
Yes — hairline cracks can be filled and reskimmed. Larger cracks may indicate structural movement that needs separate diagnosis. We can advise on the right approach during the site visit.
It depends on the area, the condition of the existing surface and whether ceilings are included. A single room, a full house re-skim and a patch repair are very different jobs. Every quote is fixed and written after a free site visit.
